Last night I was collecting more photos from Doctor Who to add to my ever growing reference folder. And I came across some pretty darn cool photos of William Hartnell. I loved one in particular and started to work on this pic while I was listening to Doctor Who and the Daleks Master Plan.

I already started one of Ian and Barbara for no apparant reason...

I love the First Doctor. He was a wiley old man who always had an ace up his sleeve. (If you've seen "The Time Meddler", you know what I mean.) Terrific artwork.

Could I ask which picture you used as reference for this picture? You've captured a melancholy aspect of the first Doctor which the other Doctors never really reproduced in quite the same way. Really very good, I love your work.

This is amazing, but I'm sure that's Richard Hurndall, who played the first Doctor in 'The Five Doctors'.

Although both actors look very similar, this is in fact Hartnell. Hurndall's hair is noticeably different than Hartnell's among other factors.
