Since I found out that my artwork is being used for wallpapers online with my name butchered out, I figured now is about the time I either clean out my gallery, or watermark the shit out of everything. I'm seriously getting tired of
1.) People using my artwork for reference without my permission.
2.) People outright stealing the image and tracing over it (a variation of 1)
3.) Finding out that my work is being used for products being sold on the internet.

I've put it off for awhile because I hate looking at watermarks, but if that's what it takes...

And I didn't even get to make my custom holiday cards! D:> (will be doing an x-change this year though for a limited amount of people)

Ahh well, anyway I have been VERY busy for some reason since I came back from vacation. I don't know if I posted it here or not but I left to see my family for the first time in almost three years in Las Vegas. It was REALLY hard to say good-bye when I left, but I know at some point that I'll be seeing them again and that things are so much better between us all. And next time they might even be coming up here to NY!

So with that said, I've been a busy little bee (not that it shows here, BUT I try to update on my Facebook page [link] ) what with sketchcards and the like. I finished my Lady Death cards and started doing a bunch of Doctor Who stuff (which I just posted earlier ) hoping to have a few things done and then get back on track with my Adeline stuff.

Next year is going to be a big hassle, but in a good way. I'm hoping to be able to get a house with my bf in Schenectady, and the attic from what I hear would be a great place to set up a legit art space So I'm crossing my fingers!

Hope all is well in dA land! I'm hoping also to have a contest depending on my free time to do prizes. So we'll see about that.

Well I lost the contest on dA, but a big thanks to everyone who helped vote on my piece (still think it was better than a lot of the entries who focused on grotesquely overweight women...) and thanks to the ever awesome for pimping my piece out on her journal!  *HUGS*

That said, I'm back to drawing whatever and could use some more commissions to fill up my art time when I'm at home. Need the income to help pay for my medication (which I need to pick up again soon D:> )

Also, next week is gonna be very special, it'll be one year since my bf and I started going out I've never celebrated an anniversary before!

I know I mention it often, but I'm going to be working on a lot of sketchcards soon and would like to know if anyone is interested in commissioning me for some work. I'm trying to save up for increased bills and other living expenses (food etc),

If anyone has an idea, shoot me a note! I'm currently working on a few Freakazoid cards and it's a great way to pass the time at work when calls aren't coming in as fast.

Aside from all the usual health problems that tend to plague me, things are going well.

I managed to go down to the New York Renaissance Faire on Saturday with my boyfriend to spend the day wondering around and being mistaken for cast members the entire day (a ton of people also took photos of the two of us which was also very awesome!) It was wonderful and entirely worth the massive amounts of pain I'm in due to my bodice. Best time I've ever had at the Faire period as I actually had someone that wanted to hang out and have fun with me (and not blow me off as a burden).

While there I finally got something I've been wanting since I got hit by a car so many years ago... A cobra-headed cane-sword! I can walk with style and confidence lol Anyway, Saturday being a blast the rest of the weekend was spent being lazy (and doing laundry in the morning ) This was a much needed rest period since starting on the hardest phone line answering calls at work. I don't know how much I can take D:

Well, other than that I'm still working on getting things done. I might have a chance to do more artwork for the performers at the Ren Faire soon and things will be getting hectic as I have some major things going on with the bf concerning my apartment

Anyway, happy labor day all!

In a little over a week I'll see my birthday come and go again. Sucks to have to be at work though, but I always hold out hope that I might see some good things come my way. It's been quite a rough year, from barely hanging on to my finances to my recent diagnosis of Hypothyroidism (just found out when I got my meds that it was hypo and not hyper, Doctors don't know squat!). I'm still trying to get commissions, but the good news is that I'll be working on my third set of sketchcards for *5FINITY soon for the Lady Death series.

Also, just today I found out that my favorite actor ever saw my fangroup about him on LiveJournal and approves! David Collings, how awesome you are! Now to get active again and draw some more fanart!

I finally got the results from my blood work done a week or so ago, I've been officially diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. It's not a great thing to have naturally, but it's nice to finally put a name on all the stuff going on lately. The symptoms are exactly what I've been experiencing. So now I'll be starting to take some medication to correct the levels and in about six weeks return to get another blood test and see where that goes.

I won't beg again, but it'd be nice to take in some more commissions to kinda offset the cost of the doctor visits and prescriptions because it's hitting my account hard and I have a lot of bills to take care of. And since my birthday is officially in a month, I've been trying to save up to do something nice.

Seriously depressed about that now. I thought I was doing better since the quality of my work improved, I guess no one outside of my good friends give a rat's ass about my stuff unless I start posting Doctor Who fanart again :/

So much for trying to make a name for myself doing what I enjoy.

Yeah it's been awhile, still not thrilled with having to pay to use the internet in a public place now that Proctors instituted the new "buy something or get out of the cafe" rule for people who need to use it... Me.
No internet at home still, which makes updating even more of a hassle.
About that even, I haven't been able to do a whole lot since stress over work and recent health issues have forced me to put some stuff on the back burner. I recently visited the Doctor for the first time since I can remember and it turns out I've been suffering from a multitude of things lately and now he's concerned about my high blood pressure. Woo hoo
It's been getting me depressed, but I've been lucky to have my boyfriend around to help out and spend time with me as friends have become scarce for some reason beyond my comprehension.

I really want to take on commissions as money is starting to get tight again with bill collectors bugging me left and right, but I can't understand that no matter what I do, I never seem to get the requests. I wish I didn't have to beg for the work, it makes me feel like my stuff isn't worth anything (which is starting to nag at me more and more often).
I've been available forever to take on the work and yet I never hear anything, and it hurts to see that people here on dA living with their parents beg for commissions to pay for a new game console or other frivolous activities when people like me have to bust our asses off to afford a roof over our heads to no success.

If anyone here is able to lend an artist a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. My prices are posted on the main page on the left hand side. I also am available to make little owl sculpts as well, note me/e-mail me for more info. Anything would help as I would like to have a bit of financial breathing room.

Things have been pretty rough lately, I recently had to move into another apartment under a scary/dire situation involving the neighbors I had lived next to. So these last few weeks have been spent packing, moving, unpacking, and trying to get things back in order. I have no internet access at my new place so I'm kinda forced to go down the street to Proctors to use the internet, during the weekly farmers market no less. Hard to find a table at the moment.

Anyway, I've only been able to draw very little in that time. Work has me stressed out and I'm on antibiotics for the broken wisdom tooth that's been causing me so much pain. I'm going to be scheduling an appointment for oral surgery in the coming weeks so who knows how things will be. I'm thankful though that my boyfriend has been helping me a great deal getting me to my appointments and keeping me company when I seriously needed it.

I'm hoping that in the next few weeks I'll have some new art to post. I created a new character I want to build up on and after reading a book on Jack "King" Kirby, I'm really motivated to get something big done. When my job starts to lay off it's employees next month, I'm hoping to get the pencils to my Adeline project started.

So that's where things are now. I guess I'll see everyone next week!

....And not for cookies

I finally had a chance to buy some Copics (and my awesome bf nabbed a bunch for me for Valentine's Day <3). So I'm currently working on my first portrait piece using them and I'm excited with the results so far. Not thrilled with the fact that I can hardly hold two in one hand (as opposed to five with my Prismas), but they blend wonderfully.

And speaking of that portrait piece, it's the first piece of art I've done just for me since I was in college. I'm so happy with the subject matter it's crazy. And if you know me well, you know exactly what I had to run and draw (hint: it's based on an early 90's dark comedy) . So hopefully if I'm not tied up with work too much I can get it completed in the coming weeks!

Things are swell now, I have high hopes for the future.

It comes as no real surprise that when you post work based on any fandom, you're going to get massive buttloads of people commenting on why they like the character or who is better etc etc. Bottom line is, I'm pretty damn tired of it.

The final nail in the coffin come from a deviant who put up a fight against me because I didn't like Orlando Bloom as Legolas in Lord of the Rings. They continued to fight with me over it (even making the bold statement and I quote: "I can accept a different opion than mine, about the work of an actor. Try it!". They're just contradicting themselves) on a thread of comments stemming from one of my deviations.

I don't need this kind of crap from immature children (said deviant even got other people involved in the argument, which goes to show how mature they are). So if I receive any more comments from strangers that have no relation to the artwork or composition and instead want to preach their opinion on something off topic (like say the fandom in general), you bet your ass I'm going to hide your comment and not even bother to give it a second glance. I'm tired of the drama involved.

I don't come to Deviantart to fight with people about this shit, that's what Livejournal and Facebook and all those other non art focused websites are for. I come here to post and get feedback on my artwork. If you feel like you NEED to approach me to question my tastes and undermine my decisions, send me a note instead of looking like an asshat on my page.

Because some of you only make yourselves look worse the deeper you dig those holes.

Thanks everyone for your comments on my last journal. It took awhile for the swelling to go down, but after awhile I was able to get off the crutches and walk on my left foot again. Got bruises all over, and found out I hit my head harder than I thought but I was well enough to host my second Holiday party at my apartment last night (hooray!). My enchiladas were a hit and I made my Strongbow floats (an alcoholic cider with vanilla ice cream with cinnamon on top) came up with that on my own, they managed to confuse my friend because they ended up tasting like an apple pie or some such!

Anyway, no more Saturday shifts at work so it's only a matter of time before they cut me loose. Gonna need some work asap to pay my bills (couldn't do any Christmas shopping at all again, which makes me feel like a cheapskate). But other than that I'm working on finalizing my thumbs for my first book so I can start penciling the pages

Yeah, you read that right. It seems like there's no end to the kind of shit karma puts me though to suffer every waking moment. I was helping my friends ~kiwimouse and ~Mad--Squirrel move some stuff out of their old apartment when I was going down the stairs and took a wrong step and went tumbling down the staircase in front of everyone, including my date. I literally felt my foot go under me and now both of my feet are messed up. My right foot (damaged from being hit by a car) is now the only thing able to support my left, which is still pretty swollen. Great time to not have health insurance right!? FML
Luckily my friends had a pair of crutches laying in their attic of their new house that someone left behind. So my date and I stayed up last night cleaning them off and making sure they were comfortable enough for me to walk on.
So yeah, happy holidays. I hope no one else has to suffer though it the way I have to :/
Now would be a good time for commissions, because if I have to go to the ER today, I have NO WAY of being able to pay for it.

The most exciting/scariest thing I've done in recent memory.

Yeah, I spent Thanksgiving at my co-workers place and had a blast! I needed a good time, and certainly got one! She convinced me to ride one of her horses and I survived (even though it gave me a bit of a scare lol)

Anyway, things are calming down a bit. Got one commission to finish and after that, anything goes. Although I'm still in the red financially, I'm kinda at peace coloring a bunch of stuff recently.

I'm going to be working on editing a great deal of images in my gallery so that they include watermarks from now on. I'm sick and fucking tired of finding my work butchered and used in memes and other people's work/websites/blog.
I'm just tired, and pissed, but mostly tired of having to find out from others that my work continually gets stolen. I just hate the fact that people just can't say something before swiping it, like my gallery is one big stock pile of free images for them to use as they please. It doesn't work that way, and now because of this, it ruins the experience for others.

I'm thinking about using my sketchblog from now on to post my work, I'm getting tired of dA and the young 'uns that continue to believe that this is photobucket...

I hate the thought of it, but I kinda have no choice. Soooooooo, yeah, you guys know where that's going.

I know I'd said it once, I know I've said it a million times and things are tough all around. But after checking my bank balance again, I'm just barely squeaking by the skin of my teeth. I'm starting my new job later this week, but for some fucked up reason New York always makes people wait a month to get their first paycheck when starting a new job so I won't get paid until the beginning of November.
This rather makes it very difficult for me as I'm having to renew my lease for another six months and until I get that paycheck I won't be getting unemployment or anything to pay for my bus passes to get to work or food and supplies in the meantime (that's a whole month of no money coming in btw).
So unless some VERY awesome people step up to commission some work from me (anything), I'm up shit creek without a paddle. I really depend on what little commissions come in to be able to pay for things like food to survive, and frankly I love the work people ask of me, it really gets me motivated. So this is just another plea to try and get something in to help a fellow artist out. I kinda am not in the best health to go on the ramen diet again.

So if anyone would like to help, I'm always more than happy to talk a deal. Like I've mentioned before, I'll draw just about anything... even Doctor Who stuff again. I appreciate any and all help I can get during this difficult time.

So the internet decided to not be a complete douchebag and came back to me (somewhat, the bastard still leaves at the drop of a hat), so I've been able to catch up on messages and making updates to certain sites.
